- Goodbye to dr. Brown
- Dr. Esters:
- There will be a nationwide search for new VCAA, paid by SO. Goal is installation by Feb, Jan preferred. Dean Koller will be chairing search. Faculty rep on committee up to Dr. Koller.
- Chancellor’s Innovation fund: $100k-120k for recruitment and retention grants. Open to faculty/staff. Work must be done in cooperation with a community org. Watch for draft language about this in next weeks.
- Diversity Task Force – Alonzo Ross, Emily Watson. This force’s reporting will go into new director of DEB search. Equity Coaching and Auditing from UK.
- Task force on Teaching, Learning, Completion – Brandon Houston, Natasha Wickenheiser Current data, best practices, benchmarking , Faculty Fellows, PD options. They’ll have recommendations by Feb 2022.
- Chancellor’s Celebration – community celebration,
- Erica brought up community issue – Sherry asked “what do you want from community? What does community look like?”
- Faculty Listening Session Debrief (all) (~30 minutes)
Honest sharing of feelings and concerns. Do we need another one? (per semester? Per year?) Concern about adjunct non-attendance. - Faculty Loading Taskforce Update on Academic Professional Model (Erica) (~10 minutes)
Taskforce makes recommendations, has academic prof. model document – TRUST involved in definition. Goal for end of year recommendations. - Update on Chancellor’s Transition Team (Marcus) (~5 minutes)
Dr. Esters has peer mentors from other colleges advising him, he’s aware of his PR issues. Operational efficiency is something we need to think about. Community focus will feed both ways. - Ivy Online Discussions:
- IvyOnline Class Scheduling & Payrate (Erica & Pat & et al) (~15 minutes)
Wave structure. IvyOnline pays FT instructor contract for Wave 1 classes, is this a way to help budget? Questions: How are faculty chosen? Who chooses faculty for teaching? What are criteria? New rank ordering – new folks are good to go, once you’re experienced your evals count.
- Discussion on IvyOnline teaching limits (Erica) (~10 minutes)
This is being reconsidered – IvyOnline wants good/experienced teachers.
- Discussion on early opening of classes on IvyOnline (Erica) (1 minute)
- IvyOnline Class Scheduling & Payrate (Erica & Pat & et al) (~15 minutes)
- Ivy+ & Banded Tuition Discussion (Braden) (~15 minutes)
Bradon’s concern is that for 12 credit students, this is a tuition hike/money grab. Philosophy of teaching/service vs corporate issues/bottom line. - Department Chair definition discussion (Braden) (~15 minutes)
ASOM dept chair – are all faculty whose jobs satisfy that definition paid at that level? - Plans for the Indy faculty council for the upcoming year (all) (~20 minutes)
